Ingredients:

1/4 Cups water 
    pinch salt 
1/4 tsp. Sugar
2 Tbsp. butter or margerine
1/4 cup flour
1 egg
1/4 tsp. Vanilla
vegetable oil for cooking
Directions:
  1. In a medium saucepan combine water, salt, sugar and butter.

  2. Heat until butter melts.

  3. Bring to a full boil over medium heat.

  4. Add flour all at once.

  5. Remove from heat and beat with a spoon until it forms a thick paste that separates from sides of pan.

  6. Add egg, beating until smooth and shiny.

  7. Stir in vanilla.

  8. Let cool 15 minutes.

  9. Fill a large pastry bag fitted with large star tip with 1/2 of the mixture.

  10. Squeeze mixture into hot oil in deep fryer or deep heavy skillet.

  11. Form a ribbon 4 to 5 inches long.

  12. Cut off with a knife.

  13. Fry until golden brown.

  14. Drain on paper towels.

  15. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

  16. Makes 22 to 25 Churros.
